Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area located in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew to be an aspiring young lady living in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. When she was a child, she wanted to be the next big thing in her career, but a sudden growth spurt made it impossible. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. As I grew older than my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school that encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school play. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the lead in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on the big and small screens. She attracted the most interest when she was offered the part as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actress in the season 1 and only appeared occasionally.
